THE POCKET PARK KIDS
The Global Goals
The Pocket Park Kids is inspired by the United Nations Global Goals for Sustainable Development—a plan agreed to by all world leaders to build a greener, fairer, better world by 2030. Any production of this play works holistically towards the targets of the Global Goals, and towards our favorite definition of sustainability: "shared prosperity on a healthy planet."
That means making the production as sustainable as possible start to finish—minimizing its carbon footprint, ethically sourcing materials for the sets and costumes, making sure everyone involved is paid fairly and treated equally, and incorporating talkbacks and Q&As after performances. Lesson plans for schools draw on resources from worldslargestlesson.globalgoals.org to activate audiences to work towards the Goals themselves.
Small People, Big Goals
Each kid in the park champions a different vision—and a different Global Goal.

All of the Goals are so interconnected and interdependent that ultimately all of the kids can't help but represent more than one of them.
Represented by
Kai, age 7
Kai is eager and good at worrying. He has a lot of questions. Like, a lot. He is bilingual, and though in this script he speaks Spanish, the second language he speaks can be changed to serve any production. Kai wants the park to be a community garden, to make up for the lack of fresh fruits and vegetables sold in the neighborhood.
